5 Houston Native Drought-Tolerant Plants for Houston First Time Home Buyer’s Backyard

Happy First Day of Spring 2023.

Most of Houston's summers tend to fall short on rain, and the one we are gearing up for, will be no exception. But not to worry, these 5 pretty drought tolerant plants have adapted and will thrive in the Houston climate and in your backyard. Happy planting.

Beautyberry - plant in partial shade, plus no need to water often. However, if you plant it in full sun you may need to water a bit more.

Black Eyed Susan- can tolerate tough conditions and thrives in full sun. So bring it on. Houston, summer, that is.

Muhly Grass this purple to pink inflorescence beauty requires full sun. Once mature, you only need to water it in periods of severe drought.

Bougainvillea - these stunning beauties, can grow in almost any dry soil.

Yellow Bells Full sun plus well-drained soils.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by. Until next time...Diana
